Job summary

Engage Education is recruiting a Positive Behaviour Assistant to join an all-through school in Seaford, supporting pupils with SEMH needs across primary and secondary settings.

The role involves flexible work across age groups, building positive relationships, and applying de-escalation techniques to support distressed pupils. Full-time hours are 8:15am to 3:30pm, with training provided and potential for a permanent position.

Qualifications

• Outgoing, positive and nurturing approach to mentoring pupils.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Resilience to work with challenging behaviour.
• Calm and composed in unpredictable situations.
• Adaptable and able to work across different age groups.
• GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or above.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils across primary and secondary with SEMH and behavioural needs.
• Work flexibly across age groups according to school needs.
• Build positive relationships and act as a consistent role model.
• Use de-escalation strategies to support distressed pupils.
• Support positive behaviour and keep pupils engaged in learning.
• Collaborate with teachers and support staff to minimise disruption.
• Encourage pupils to develop confidence, resilience and independence.
• Provide feedback to teachers and wider school team on pupil progress.
• Remain calm, adaptable and proactive in challenging situations.
• Work full-time, 8:15am – 3:30pm.
