Job summary

REESON Education is seeking a Behaviour Mentor to support pupils in Winchester’s primary and secondary settings. You will build trusting relationships, reinforce routines and apply practical regulation strategies to help students stay engaged and manage emotions during lessons and transitions.

This talent pool targets January 2027 starts with school-day placements and potential longer-term opportunities. Relevant SEMH or pastoral experience and safeguarding compliance are valued requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Behaviour Mentor, SEMH or pastoral worker, or transferable youth work.
• Ability to recognise triggers and support emotional regulation in pupils.
• Willingness to follow school safeguarding and support plans.
• Resilience, calm judgement and good listening skills.
• Understanding that needs vary between pupils and avoid assumptions.

Responsibilities

• Establish trust with pupils through regular check-ins and clear expectations.
• Follow agreed behaviour and support plans during lessons, breaks and transitions.
• Record observations accurately and maintain confidentiality and safeguarding procedures.
• Work with pastoral leads to help pupils re-engage after setbacks.
• Provide consistent support to help pupils stay engaged with education.
