Job summary

The University of Birmingham is seeking a Team Manager for Community Safety and Security to lead 24/7 security operations across campus. You will coach Security Officers, manage incidents, coordinate with emergency services, and drive continuous improvement within a diverse team.

You will report to the Community Safety and Security Operations Manager and support the people strategy while ensuring a safe, welcoming environment for staff and students.

Qualifications

• Experience leading security teams in a customer-focused environment.
• Knowledge of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design and industry standards.
• Proven ability to manage emergencies and incidents with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Security Officers to deliver high standards of professionalism and customer service.
• Respond to operational security incidents and coordinate resources with external partners.
• Develop staff through coaching, 1-2-1s and training.
• Ensure compliance with HR policies and safeguarding requirements.
• Create weekly incident reports and share lessons learned.
