Job summary

Wilson James is seeking a Security Officer to join our team in Wick, Scotland. This full-time role covers days and nights on a 4-on 4-off rotation, totaling 42 hours per week, with a pay rate of £14.94 per hour.

You will monitor premises, patrol, respond to incidents and uphold security protocols to protect staff, visitors and assets. The role requires a current DS SIA Licence, proven security experience, strong observational and communication skills, and the ability to stay calm under pressure

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Welcoming staff and visitors and maintaining a professional atmosphere.
  • Conducting regular patrols and monitoring premises to prevent unauthorised access.
  • Monitoring access points, CCTV, and security procedures.
  • Responding to alarms, emergencies and incidents with appropriate action.
  • Completing detailed daily activity and security reports.
  • Assisting in evacuations and basic first aid where required.
  • Working across diverse client sites with a flexible approach.

About the Role:

As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for:

  • Welcoming staff and visitors and creating a safe, professional atmosphere
  • Conducting regular patrols and monitor premises to prevent unauthorised access, theft, or vandalism.
  • Monitoring access points, CCTV, and handling security procedures
  • Respond promptly to alarms, emergencies, and security incidents, taking appropriate action as needed.
  • Complete detailed reports on daily activities, incidents, and any security concerns.
  • Assist in emergency situations, including evacuations and first aid support if required.
  • Adapting to different client sites - no two days are the same
  • Responding calmly and confidently to incidents or concerns
  • Working as part of a diverse, supportive team

What we are looking for:
  • To hold a current DS SIA Licence
  • Proven experience in a security role or a similar position.
  • Strong observational skills with the ability to identify and respond to security threats.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with staff, visitors, and authorities.
  • Ability to remain calm and act decisively in high-pressure situations.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
