Job summary

The Home Office through its Corporate Services Group is recruiting an Operational Security Supervisor (AO) to oversee on-site security across the Liverpool and Leeds estate. You will supervise daily security operations, coordinate bag/vehicle screenings, and monitor alarms and CCTV to keep the site safe and compliant.

Role requires full-time shifts including early starts, late finishes and overnight work, with potential travel within the Liverpool/Leeds region.

Job description

The Home Office works to build a safe, fair and prosperous UK. We achieve this through our work on counter-terrorism, policing, crime, drugs policy, immigration and passports. The Corporate Services Group works closely with the Home Office's policy and operational commands to enable us together to deliver the department's priorities. The group is comprised of different teams and professional functions, including Commercial, Communications, Finance, People, Portfolio and Project Delivery, Private Office, Security, Estates and Information. The Department faces significant challenges and can change rapidly in the global environment in which we operate, making this one of the most exciting and stimulating Government Departments in which to work. We are recruiting 1 x SGB1 (AO) Operational Security Supervisor to work within the Physical Security Team. The successful candidate will form part of the security team and be responsible for supervising the daily running of security on site, situated in Liverpool and Leeds. However, all staff within the security team must be prepared to attend other sites within the region to assist with covering sickness or leave, as and when directed. This is an important and varied role which has a considerable effect on the day-to-day operation of the Liverpool and Leeds estate and wider business objective. There is a high degree of "reactive" tasks associated with the post, therefore flexibility and prioritising are key requirements.,

• Assist and provide guidance to all customers, staff, and internal / external stakeholders, promoting a positive and professional working relationship that proactively contributes to the work of the team and aids business delivery.
• Conduct random bag and vehicle screenings on staff, visitor/contractor in accordance with policy.
• Monitor alarm & CCTV systems.
• Provide support and guidance if required to colleagues within the team.
• Enable the business to function in a safe and secure manner and in accordance with policy and guidance.
• Deal appropriately with any non-compliant individuals, in a polite and professional manner, assisting colleagues if required and escalating to Security Management when required.
• Complete and ensure regular and varied foot patrols are completed in line with directive.

Working Pattern

Due to the business requirements of this role, it is only available on a full-time basis. Successful candidates will need to be able to attend for all shifts including early starts, late night finishes, and overnight shifts. These shifts may be outside of public transport operating hours.

Training

You will receive full training and support to do the job. Training takes place on the Job during your probation period and then continues on the job with a mentor who supports you until you are fully confident in the role. Even then you are never alone; you work as part of a team where there is always someone around for advice and support. Further information on what the training involves can be found on our website. Successful candidates will also need to achieve a Security Industry Authority licence, training will be given as this is a requirement for the role.

Travel

The post holders may be required to visit all Home Office buildings within the Liverpool and Leeds Estate to assist in the managing of the Liverpool and Leeds Region when directed.

An Operational Security Supervisor is required to have good organisational skills, and the ability to maintain effective administrative processes, have good written and verbal communication skills with an eye for detail. You should be proactive with the ability to work in a fast-paced and at times highly pressured environment. Hold strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to establish relationships with colleagues at every level within the organisation. You will need to have a positive approach to customer service with strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to establish effective relationships with colleagues within an organisation.
