Job summary

UKNNL is seeking a Security and Resilience Officer to deliver security, regulatory compliance and resilience across the Preston and Sellafield facilities. The role covers managing security systems, risk assessments and emergency exercise support with occasional travel to other labs.

Ideal candidates will have strong knowledge of NISR 2003, experience on Sellafield security modifications and the ability to act as a local Security & Regulatory Liaison Officer.

Qualifications

• Detailed knowledge of the Nuclear Industries Security Regulations (NISR) and its applicability.
• Experience in security decision-making and security systems management.
• Experience implementing security modifications on the Sellafield site with stakeholders.
• High integrity and ability to challenge others when needed.
• Self-motivation with drive, energy and resilience.
• Strong written and verbal communication with customers and stakeholders.
• Ability to obtain DV level security clearance.
• Be able to act as Security & Regulatory Liaison Officer (SLO & RLO).

Responsibilities

• Maintain knowledge of local security arrangements and support contingency plan development and review.
• Administer physical security systems (IDS, AACS, CCTV) including maintenance and testing.
• Support development and maintenance of Security Risk Assessments and related docs.
• Coordinate temporary security arrangements per NSSP requirements and local procedures.
• Conduct inspections, audits and assurance activities; record findings and actions.
• Maintain security records, governance docs, and appointments for security management.
• Provide security guidance to personnel, project teams and stakeholders.
• Support planning and review of emergency exercises and test security arrangements.
• Assist investigations of security incidents and implement corrective actions.
• Identify lessons learned and opportunities for security improvement.
