United Kingdom National Nuclear Laboratory Limited (UKNNL) is seeking a Security Operations Manager to lead, develop and improve end-to-end security operations within the Technology and Cyber Services team. The role focuses on preventing, detecting, responding to, and recovering from cyber threats, with flexible location across Risley, Workington or Preston.

Qualifications

• Experience in cyber security operations within regulated or critical infrastructure environments.
• Leadership of security operations teams and/or managed security services.
• Experience managing security incidents and crisis-level response; operate under pressure.
• Strong understanding of incident response and digital forensics.
• Strong understanding of threat intelligence and threat hunting.
• Strong understanding of vulnerability management and security controls.
• Experience working with regulators, auditors, and compliance frameworks.
• Ability to translate strategy into operational capability.
• Experience managing third-party suppliers and service providers.
• Evidence of related operations certifications and training.
• Ability to obtain SC level security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Manage a small SecOps team, providing support, direction, leadership, coaching and mentoring to maximise performance and wellbeing.
• Align SecOps activities to organisational risk appetite and CISO strategy.
• Lead the SecOps area and represent UKNNL at governance and security meetings.
• Develop governance, reporting, and performance management frameworks.
• Own end-to-end security monitoring, detection, and response capabilities and coordinate with partners.
• Lead operational management of security incidents and post-incident learning.
• Define and deliver a security testing and exercising programme.
• Develop maturity of security operations processes, tooling, and resources.
• Create roadmaps aligned to objectives and threats.
• Support other cyber/security sections of TCS when needed.
