Job summary

East Coast College in Great Yarmouth is seeking a Security Ranger to protect people and property on site. The role covers patrols, CCTV monitoring, incident response and safeguarding, with a focus on a safe, welcoming environment for students and staff.

This permanent full‑time post offers 37 hours per week, a Band F salary (£25,811 - £26,025 FTE), 38 days holiday, a generous pension, and wellbeing perks such as free gym access.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Protect college premises, respond to incidents, patrol, monitor CCTV, manage intruder alerts, and support emergencies.
  • Be the first point of contact for students, staff and visitors, ensuring a safe, welcoming environment.
  • Carry out ID badge checks, enforce health and safety, challenge unauthorised access, assess incidents, and maintain records.
  • Undertake car park and first aid duties, assist with site operations, promote safeguarding, equality and inclusion, and support college needs.

Salary: Band F (£25,811.10 - £26,025.00 FTE)

Purpose of Role:

The overall purpose of the post is ensuring the safety of students, staff and visitors whilst using the college premises and facilities along with the security of the buildings, grounds and property under the ownership or control of East Coast College.

Key needs from you and the role;

  • Maintain Campus Security & Safety

    • Protect college premises, respond to security incidents, conduct patrols, monitor CCTV, manage intruder alerts, and support emergency responses including fire alarms.
  • Provide Excellent Customer Service

    • Act as a professional first point of contact for students, staff, and visitors while ensuring a safe, welcoming, and secure environment.
  • Monitor Compliance & Incident Management

    • Carry out ID badge checks, enforce health and safety requirements, challenge unauthorised access and non-attendance, assess incidents, and maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Support College Operations & Welfare

    • Undertake car park and first aid duties, assist with site operations when required, promote safeguarding, equality and inclusion, and support the wider needs of the College.
