Job summary

East Coast College's Lowestoft Campus is seeking a Technical Support Instructor in Welding to provide practical learning support, ensure workshop safety, and help students access learning and achieve goals.

You will work across sites, bring industry welding experience, mentor students with additional needs, develop work placements and strengthen employer links. The role is full-time, permanent, term-time, with generous benefits.

Job Title:Technical Support Instructor - Welding
Location: Lowestoft Campus
Hours: Full time - 37 Hours
Contract: Permanent - Full time - Term Time Only
Salary: Band F - (£25,811.10 - £26,025.00)

Purpose of Role:

To provide specialist technical and learning support within practical learning environments, ensuring equipment, resources and workshops are safe, compliant and industry-standard, while enabling students with additional needs to access learning, develop independence and achieve their goals. The role may involve working across all East Coast College sites.

• Industry experience in welding, engineering or a related technical field, with a passion for developing students’ vocational, employability and workplace skills.
• Ability to support and motivate young people with learning difficulties and disabilities, helping them build confidence, independence and achieve positive employment outcomes.
• Strong employer engagement and networking skills, with experience developing work placements, supported internships and employment opportunities within the welding sector.
• Organised and collaborative professional with excellent communication skills, committed to safeguarding, student wellbeing, accurate record-keeping and working effectively with colleagues, employers and external agencies.
