Job summary

Kingdom Group is seeking a professional Security Officer for The Harpur Centre in Bedford. You will maintain a safe, welcoming environment for shoppers, tenants, and visitors, delivering reliable security presence and responsive incident handling in a busy retail setting.

The role requires a valid SIA Licence, strong communication, and a customer-focused approach. Prior retail security experience is a plus but not essential, with full training and progression opportunities offered.

Responsibilities

• Provide visible security presence in the shopping centre.
• Conduct regular internal and external patrols to deter incidents.

• Respond to emergencies and assist the public as needed.
• Complete incident reports and maintain records.
• Monitor visitor and contractor access and assist centre management.

Pay: £13.69 per hour
Hours: 42 hours per week
Contract: Permanent, Full Time
Shifts: 5 days from 7, Monday to Sunday

Typical shift patterns include:

• 06:00 - 15:00
• 08:00 - 17:0>
• 12:30 - 22:30
• 15:30 - 00:30

About the Role

Kingdom Group is looking for a professional and customer-focused Security Officer to join our team at The Harpur Centre in Bedford.

Working within a busy shopping centre environment, you will play a key role in maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming atmosphere for customers, tenants, contractors, and visitors. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced security professional or someone looking to develop their career within a supportive and established security team.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing a visible security presence throughout the shopping centre.
• Conducting regular internal and external patrols.
• Monitoring CCTV systems and responding to incidents.
• Preventing theft, loss, damage, and anti-social behaviour.
• Responding to emergencies and assisting members of the public.
• Completing incident reports and maintaining accurate records.
• Monitoring visitor and contractor access.
• Working closely with centre management, retailers, and emergency services.
• Ensuring compliance with all security, health & safety, and site procedures.
• Delivering excellent customer service at all times.

What We're Looking For

To be successful in this role, you will hold a valid SIA Licence and have a professional, confident approach to security. You will possess excellent communication and customer service skills, remain calm under pressure, and be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Previous retail security experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
