Job summary

ABM UK is seeking a professional Security Officer for a busy shopping centre. You will be the public face of the Security Team, delivering first-class customer service while maintaining safety.

This role requires a vigilant, proactive attitude, travel to various site locations, and availability for variable shifts. SIA and CCTV licenses, plus First Aid Training, are essential.

Responsibilities

• Readily interact with visitors/tenants within the shopping centre delivering first class customer service.
• Carry out regular patrols of the shopping centre as detailed in site instructions.
• Proactively assist visitors and tenants wherever opportunities arise.
• Safeguard the site creating a safe, non-threatening environment for all visitors/tenants.
• Ensure incidents are managed in accordance with site policies and procedures.
• Liaise with the site control room and keep colleagues briefed and supported.
• Report any unsecure areas to Control Room and action resolution.
• Log all non-conformances and emergencies with the control room operatives.
• Handle emergencies efficiently and keep the team informed.
• Monitor and report on suspicious activity and incidents per policies.
• Maintain vigilance against unauthorised access by banned individuals.
• Adhere to radio procedures at all times.
• Record events in the Security Officer notebook and follow notebook policies.
• Undertake other duties as required by the line manager to meet business needs.
• Be available to cover at least one additional shift per month if requested.
• Collaborate with Environmental Services to deliver unified service.
• Any other duties communicated by management.

This important role is the public face of the Security Team. A can-do and professional attitude is essential in this highly influential role. You also need to ensure exemplary standards of Security and Customer Service are always provided to the client and visitors to the site. This position is based at the site above, however there will be travel involved in the role on a regular basis.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Readily interact with all visitors/tenants within the shopping centre, delivering first class customer focused service
• Carry out regular patrols of the shopping centre as detailed in the site assignment Instructions, being always proactive
• Continuously look for opportunities to be of assistance to visitors at the shopping centre, proactively helping wherever opportunities arise
• Safeguard all the sites are safe and non-threatening environment for all visitors/tenants.
• Ensuring all incidents are managed in accordance with site policies and procedure
• Liaising with site control room proactively reacting to incidents and ensuring colleagues are fully briefed and always supported
• Ensure any unsecure areas of the site are reported to Control Room immediately and action taken to resolve
• Record/log all non-conformances and emergencies with the appropriate control room operatives
• Deal efficiently and effectively with all emergencies ensuring the Centre team are kept fully always informed
• Intelligent understanding of human behaviour, monitoring and surveillance of suspect individuals, logging, and reporting incidents in line with site/company polices
• Maintain vigilance and highlight/manage unauthorised access by banned individuals
• Ensure radio procedures are always adhered to
• Ensure all events/incidents are recorded in the Security Officer notebook correctly and notebook policies are always adhered to
• Undertake any other reasonable duties as required to meet the needs of the business.
• Any other reasonable duties as requested by your line manager
• Ensure a timely response to all security issues and events
• Complete all training requirements as requested by line manager
• Be available to cover at least one additional shift per month if requested to cover absence/annual leave
• Liaise closely with the Environmental Services team delivering one service and highlight opportunities in working as one team
• Any other duties as assigned by your manager to support the team and ensure the smooth operation of the business will be communicated to you
