Job summary

Anchor Group Services is seeking an experienced Security Officer for Balaena Tyne in Newcastle. The role involves maintaining site security, patrolling, managing gatehouse access, and delivering a professional and approachable service to employees, contractors and visitors.

You will work a 6 on 3 off shift pattern (6:00-18:00) on a zero hour contract, with an hourly pay of £13.00. A frontline SIA licence is required and strong observation and communication skills are essential.

Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Anchor Group Services for an experienced and professional Security Officer to join our established team at Balaena Tyne in Newcastle.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Security Officer who takes pride in maintaining a safe and secure environment while delivering a professional and approachable service. You will act as a visible security presence across the site, engaging with employees, contractors and visitors while ensuring site security procedures are followed at all times. You will be responsible for conducting regular patrols, monitoring activity across the site, managing access and gatehouse operations, responding promptly to incidents and security concerns, and maintaining accurate records in line with site procedures.

We are looking for someone with strong observational and communication skills who is confident working both independently and as part of a wider security team. You should be professional, reliable and customer-focused, with the ability to remain calm and make appropriate decisions when responding to incidents.

The successful candidate must hold a valid frontline SIA Licence.

Duties include:

• Protecting the client’s property, people and/or assets byproviding security services in direct accordance with the sites publishedAssignment Instructions (AI’s) and site‑specific procedures
  
• Managing gatehouse operations and acting as a professional first point of contact for employees, contractors, visitors and delivery drivers
  
• Signing visitors and contractors in and out of the site and maintaining accurate gatehouse records
  
• Controlling access and egress to the site, checking identification and ensuring all visitors, contractors and vehicles are appropriately authorised
  
• Conducting regular security patrols of the site, identifying and reporting any suspicious activity, security risks or potential hazards
  
• Preventing losses and damage by reporting irregularities;informing offenders of policy and procedures
  
• Preventing and escalating incidents in a timely, accurate andappropriate manner to the Control Room/ Shift Manager/OperationsManager/Emergency Services as appropriate for serious incidents
  
• Completing reports by recording observations, information,occurrences, and surveillance activities
  
• Maintaining organisation's stability and reputation bycomplying with legal requirements
  
• Contributing to team effort by accomplishing related resultsas needed
  
• Acting as a first line support to customers and visitors tosite, providing a professional and friendly service
  
• Understanding the needs of our customer, respond accordinglyto customer queries and requests and take appropriate action
