Job summary

The Dorchester in London is seeking a Security Officer to protect guests and property, ensuring a safe and secure environment while upholding our renowned service standards.

You will contribute to a high-performing security team, with formal qualifications (SIA Level 2, First Aid at Work, Fire Marshal) and ongoing training through our learning academy, supporting your development and career as a hotel professional.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to communicate effectively with guests and colleagues under pressure.
• Experience operating CCTV and access control systems.
• Knowledge of safety, security and GDPR considerations in a hotel setting.

Responsibilities

• Protect the Company’s property from loss or damage and provide a safe environment for guests and colleagues.
• Oversee FLHSS (Fire, Life, Health, Safety, and Security) in line with company standards.
• Record incidents in the Occurrence Book and conduct regular patrols with risk assessments.
• Operate CCTV and security systems, reporting pertinent information to stakeholders.

What you'll do

As a Security Officer, you'll love what you do and take pride in taking care of our guests:

• You will be responsible for the protection of the Company’s property from loss or damage as well as providing a safe and secure environment for its guests and colleagues.
• You will be responsible for FLHSS (Fire, Life, Health, Safety, and Security) of the hotel adhering to our set company rules and regulation standards. This includes review on protective and preventative security measures that ensures our guests receives nothing but the best experience.
• Recording all relevant incidents in the Occurrence Book, conduct regular patrols of the building, records hazard and communicate findings for action in compliance particular to Risk Assessment strategies
• Ensuring that CCTV / work-related security and surveillance systems are professionally operated at all times when assigned and to relay all pertinent information to relevant stakeholders or Area Director of Security
• You will be convergent of, and comply with, safe working practises as laid down under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and Company H & S Manual, as applicable to your place of work.
• Conducts random audits in all departments to ensure the policy on key control, Lost and Found processes and adhered to security Code of Practice

The items shared are the essence of a day in the life of a Security Officer, but we will make sure you are provided with specifics on how we care for our hotel.

The operational hours of work are shift-based and may be subjected to change. These currently set as:

Shift rotation on 4 shifts on 4 shifts off, mixture of days and night.

• 07:00-19:00
• 19:00-07:00

What you'll bring

Essential skills and experiences

• Previous experience in a security function role- at least 3 years’ experience working in a hotel, corporate or luxury retail sector as a security officer.
• Qualifications- SIA Level 2 Door Supervisor qualification.
• Level 3 award in First Aid at Work (RQF)
• Fire Marshal course
• Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, proven ability to communicate well under pressure.
• Relevant experience in operating CCTV and access control software; following the hotel policy concerning GDPR compliance regarding monitoring and reviewing CCTV footage.
• Conduct regular H&S and Fire Safety audits across the property; report any findings to the security management team.
• You will protect the Company’s property from loss or damage and provide a safe and secure environment for its guests and colleagues.
