Job description

About the role

The University of Leicester is looking for a dedicated and experienced Deputy Team Manager to join our Campus Services within the Division of Estates and Campus Services. You will play a key leadership role in ensuring the effective day-to-day delivery of security services across campus, deputising for the Team Manager when required. This includes overseeing Control Room operations, supporting team performance, and ensuring our systems and processes meet the highest standards of efficiency, customer service and compliance with legislation such as the Data Protection Act.

In this varied and engaging role, you will help to plan and deliver key security initiatives, including student engagement events such as Open Days and Welcome Week. You will support the recruitment, training and development of security staff and help maintain high levels of operational readiness by managing equipment, fault reporting and system functionality. You will be joining a diverse and award-winning team dedicated to safeguarding the University’s vibrant community, with access to excellent staff benefits and opportunities for career development.

About you

You will be an experienced and organised individual with a background in security services or a related field, ideally with experience supervising staff in a control room or operational setting. A full manual UK driving licence is essential, and you must either hold or be willing to obtain a current SIA CCTV Operator Licence. Your ability to coach others, manage competing demands and contribute to a high-performing team will be vital to success in this role.

With strong communication skills and the ability to respond calmly under pressure, you will take a proactive approach to delivering excellent service. You will value teamwork, understand the importance of confidentiality, and be flexible to work across shift patterns covering 24/7 operations. If you’re looking for a dynamic and rewarding role at a university committed to equality, innovation and community impact, we would love to hear from you.
