Job summary

National Highways is seeking a Compliance Lead within its Security Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) function. The role is hybrid with two days per week in the office at National Highways locations across the UK.

Successful candidates must hold or be willing to obtain SC clearance and have five years of UK residency for vetting. You will lead compliance workstreams, drive remediation of gaps and advise senior leaders on regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience leading teams or workstreams within security governance, risk, compliance, audit or assurance.
• Experience leading or supporting security audits, risk assessments and assurance reviews.
• Strong understanding of cyber and information security principles, including security compliance requirements within a complex, multi‑supplier environment.
• Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to interpret complex information and communicate security risks clearly.
• Knowledge of UK public sector security and regulatory requirements and relevant security frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the Compliance workstream, providing direction and oversight to ensure outputs meet expectations.
• Oversee security compliance assessments, audits and assurance reviews across systems and business areas; ensure findings are actionable.
• Act as a senior expert providing specialist advice on security compliance obligations and gaps.
• Develop and deliver reporting on the organisation's security compliance posture and recommendations.
• Drive remediation of compliance gaps with action owners and leaders, escalating risks when needed.
