Job summary

BT Group in Birmingham is seeking a Networking Engineering Professional to design secure, end-to-end network solutions for government, health and policing programmes.

You will collaborate with Solution Architects, Operations, Security teams and vendors like Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto and HPE Aruba to turn complex requirements into effective technical designs while engaging with customers and senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Network design for enterprise/public sector networks; Cisco WAN/LAN, routing and switching.
• Experience translating designs into controlled network changes; CCNA level knowledge.
• Strong communication to explain technical decisions to customers and stakeholders.
• Experience in secure government or similarly regulated environments.
• Experience designing or supporting networks interfacing with AWS.
• Knowledge of vendors such as Juniper, Palo Alto and HPE Aruba.
• CCNA certification is beneficial where it complements practical networking experience.
• Ability to meet security clearance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Support the design of secure, scalable and cost-effective network solutions, translating customer and business requirements into clear technical designs.
• Partner with customers, architects, Operations, Security teams and technology vendors to manage design integration and resolve technical challenges.
• Support the implementation of network changes, ensuring solutions align with architectural principles and standards.
• Analyse network and design issues, performing root cause analysis and providing technical expertise throughout the solution lifecycle.
• Improve solutions and ways of working by supporting change impact assessments and maintaining high-quality design documentation.
