Join BT’s Government, Health and Policing team as a Customer Solutions Design Specialist, designing secure, end-to-end network solutions that support critical programmes and help keep the UK safe and secure. You’ll work with customers, Solution Architects, Operations, Security teams and technology partners including Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto and HPE Aruba to turn complex requirements into effective technical solutions. This is a customer-facing opportunity where you can use your network expertise, influence technical direction and build trusted relationships with customers and senior stakeholders.
Support the design of secure, scalable and cost-effective network solutions, translating customer and business requirements into clear technical designs.
Partner with customers, architects, Operations, Security teams and technology vendors to manage design integration and resolve technical challenges.
Support the implementation of network changes, ensuring solutions align with agreed architectural principles, standards and technical strategy.
Analyse network and design issues, carrying out root cause analysis and providing technical expertise throughout the solution lifecycle.
Improve solutions and ways of working by supporting change impact assessments, maintaining high-quality design documentation and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
Network design expertise: Practical experience designing enterprise, service provider or public-sector networks, with strong knowledge of Cisco WAN/LAN, routing and switching technologies.
Network change and delivery capability: Experience translating agreed network designs into controlled network changes, with the technical knowledge expected at approximately CCNA level.
Customer and stakeholder management: Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical decisions clearly, influence technical direction and build trusted relationships with customers and senior stakeholders.
Experience working with networks in secure government or similarly regulated environments.
Experience designing or supporting networks that interface with AWS.
Knowledge of technologies from vendors such as Juniper, Palo Alto and HPE Aruba.
Cisco certification, such as CCNA, would be beneficial where it complements practical networking experience.
The ability to meet the security clearance requirements associated with the role.
