Job summary

Laing O'Rourke (Expanded) are recruiting a Senior Engineer to join the Kiln Lane substation project as part of The Great Grid Upgrade. The role focuses on delivering critical electrical infrastructure with strong focus on temporary works, setting-out, and compliance on site.

The successful candidate will drive quality procedures, lead a team of engineers, and ensure dimensional control and proper documentation through ITPs and method statements.

Qualifications

• Self-delivery experience in civil engineering projects.
• Demonstrable construction delivery experience at scale.
• Temporary Works experience on major projects.
• Degree or equivalent technical qualification in Civil Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Utilise Digital Engineering model to inform Visual Method Statements and Visual Task sheets.
• Implement and enforce the LOR Temporary Works procedures on projects.
• Determine the most appropriate methods of dimensional control and manage setting out data.
• Interrogate and transfer setting out data from 3D CAD data.
• Define scope of as-built surveys and reports to demonstrate compliance.
• Produce and ensure ITPs address specification and contractual obligations.
• Ensure adherence to project and company quality procedures.
• Apply best engineering methods and ensure design process knowledge.
• Produce and approve method statements and risk assessments.
• Support procurement and manage a team of Senior Engineers (project dependent).

Education

Civil Engineering degree

HNC/HND/NVQ Level 4 equivalent
