Job summary

Kier Group plc. is seeking a Section Engineer for the M6 Lune Gorge project, based in Tebay. You’ll support engineering compliance and deliver on-site technical excellence, collaborating with partners to ensure works follow approved drawings and specs.

This role requires civil engineering qualifications, Temporary Works expertise, and site experience with bridges. A valid NH Passport, CSCS card, and a driving licence are essential for site duties.

Qualifications

• Holds a relevant construction or civil engineering Degree or HNC.
• Strong knowledge and practical experience of Temporary Works.
• Site-based experience delivering structural works, particularly bridges.
• Holds an NH Passport and relevant CSCS card.
• Has a full driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Support and manage the junior engineering team while acting as a technical adviser on site for subcontractors and operatives.
• Interpret design documentation and ensure works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings and specifications.
• Manage and coordinate temporary works designs and approvals in line with site requirements and programme.
• Support construction teams with technical queries, resolve design conflicts, and drive value engineering initiatives.
• Manage Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality matters for your areas of responsibility, ensuring high standards and continuous improvement.

We’re looking for a Section Engineer to join our M6 Lune Gorge project team based in Tebay. You’ll work in a collaborative environment alongside National Highways and our delivery partners, playing a key role in supporting the engineering and technical compliance of the project., Location: TebayHours: Permanent Fulltime 45 hours per weekWe are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role.

What will you be responsible for?

As a Section Engineer, you’ll be working within the M6 Lune Gorge project team, supporting them in delivering engineering excellence and technical compliance. Your day to day will include:

• Supporting and managing the junior engineering team whilst acting as a technical adviser on site for subcontractors and operatives
