Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking a dedicated Secondary Teaching Assistant to support KS3 and KS4 students in Wakefield. The role offers day-to-day or long-term placements with an immediate start, assisting with classroom learning and targeted 1:1 support for students with SEND.

You will work closely with teaching staff to maintain an inclusive learning environment, adapting activities as needed and contributing to interventions.

TeacherActive is proud to be working with several mainstream secondary schools based in and around the Wakefield area, who are looking to appoint a dedicated Secondary Teaching Assistant to support students across Key Stage 3 / KS3 and Key Stage 4 / KS4. The school provides a mainstream learning environment where students with a range of abilities and additional learning needs are supported to access the secondary curriculum and develop their confidence, independence and academic skills.

The school is looking to take on an enthusiastic Secondary Teaching Assistant for day-to-day or long-term work, with an immediate start available. The successful Secondary Teaching Assistant will be responsible for supporting classroom learning, providing targeted 1:1 support for students with SEND, assisting with small group interventions and working closely with teaching staff to maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment.

The successful Secondary Teaching Assistant will have:

• Experience supporting students across Key Stage 3 / KS3 and Key Stage 4 / KS4 in a UK secondary school
• Experience providing 1:1 support to students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities / SEND
• Knowledge of strategies to adapt learning activities and support students with additional needs
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively alongside teaching staff
• A patient, caring and adaptable approach with a genuine passion for supporting young people's learning and development
