Job summary

TeacherActive Ltd is seeking a dedicated Primary Teaching Assistant to support pupils across KS1 and KS2 in Wakefield-based primary schools. You will work closely with a class teacher to deliver engaging activities while maintaining an inclusive learning environment.

The role involves 1:1 support for SEND pupils, small group activities, and close collaboration with staff to help pupils access the primary curriculum with patience and care.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children across Key Stage 1/KS1 and KS2 in a UK primary school.
• Experience providing 1:1 support to pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
• Knowledge of strategies to adapt learning activities for pupils with additional needs.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with teaching staff.
• Patient, caring and adaptable approach with a genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development.

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a number of mainstream primary schools based in and around the Wakefield area, who are looking to appoint a dedicated Primary Teaching Assistant to support pupils across Key Stage 1 / KS1 and Key Stage 2 / KS2. The schools provide a mainstream learning environment where children with a range of abilities and additional learning needs are supported to access the primary curriculum and develop their confidence and independence.

The schools are looking to take on an enthusiastic Primary Teaching Assistant for day-to-day or long-term work, with an immediate start available. The successful Primary Teaching Assistant will be responsible for supporting classroom learning, providing targeted 1:1 support for pupils with SEND, assisting with small group activities and working closely with the class teacher to maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment.

The successful Primary Teaching Assistant will have:

• Experience supporting children across Key Stage 1 / KS1 and Key Stage 2 / KS2 in a UK primary school
• Experience providing 1:1 support to pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities / SEND
• Knowledge of strategies to adapt learning activities and support pupils with additional needs
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively alongside teaching staff
• A patient, caring and adaptable approach with a genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development
