Job summary

Prospero Teaching is recruiting Teaching Assistants for a well-regarded secondary school in Monmouthshire. The role focuses on supporting students aged 11-16 with ADHD/SEMH needs, promoting engagement, organisation and emotional regulation to help each pupil achieve their potential.

The successful candidate will build trusting relationships, support transitions between lessons, and monitor progress while maintaining high expectations in a supportive learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children or young people with ADHD, SEMH needs, or SEND requirements.
  • Strong understanding of ADHD and strategies to support attention and regulation.
  • Excellent behaviour management, communication and teamwork skills are essential.
  • Secondary school experience is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Support students' academic progress, emotional well-being, organisation and self-regulation.
  • Develop positive relationships with students to build confidence and independence.
  • Maintain high expectations and promote positive outcomes in lessons and transitions.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, well-being and engagement.

Salary: 95 - 108 per day
Working Hours: 08:30am - 15:30pm

About the Role


The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting students academic progress, emotional well-being, organisation, and self-regulation, helping them navigate the demands of secondary school while building confidence and independence.
We're looking for a patient and resilient individual who can develop a positive and trusting relationship with the students while maintaining high expectations and promoting positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the students in maintaining focus, engagement, and participation during lessons
  • Implement strategies to support attention, organisation, time management, and emotional regulation
  • Help manage transitions between lessons and different school environments
  • Promote positive behaviour and support the student in meeting individual targets
  • Build a strong, professional relationship with the student based on trust, consistency, and encouragement
  • Monitor and report on the student's progress, well-being, and engagement

Requirements

  • Experience supporting children or young people with ADHD, SEMH needs, or other SEND requirements
  • A strong understanding of ADHD and the strategies that support attention, engagement, and emotional regulation
  • Strong behaviour management, communication and teamwork skills
  • Experience working within a secondary school setting (desirable)
  • Relevant qualifications in Education, Psychology, Youth Work, SEND, or a related field would be advantageous but are not essential
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential
