Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Secondary School Teaching Assistant to join a successful and inclusive secondary school in Wellingborough from September 2026. You will support students across subjects, work with teachers and other staff to help learners engage with lessons and reach their targets.

This permanent, full-time role offers ongoing CPD, career progression within education, and the chance to make a real difference in young people's academic and personal development.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting students to engage with lessons and develop independently.
• Ability to work with pupils with additional needs and SEMH requirements.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills with young people.

Responsibilities

• Support students across a range of subjects within the secondary curriculum.
• Provide one-to-one and small group support to help students progress.
• Assist pupils with additional needs, including SEND, autism, ADHD and SEMH.
• Help teachers deliver engaging lessons through classroom support and resource prep.
• Encourage positive attitudes towards learning and student confidence.
• Support classroom routines and contribute to a positive learning environment.

The Role

The Ideal Candidate

• Has a passion for working with teenagers and supporting their educational journey
• Is approachable, patient and able to inspire confidence in students
• Has strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships
• Can adapt to different situations and work effectively within a school team
• Is dependable, proactive and enthusiastic about making a difference
• Previous experience working with young people is desirable but not essential
• Is keen to develop their skills and progress within the education sector
