Job summary

Cover People is seeking a Secondary SEND Teaching Assistant for a SEND secondary school in Bury. The role is full-time, 8:30am–3:30pm, with a temp-to-perm path and ASAP start.

You will support pupils with SEND, focusing on autism, ADHD, SEMH, and communication needs, using proactive strategies to manage behaviour and aid learning. You will work closely with teachers and the school team, gain ongoing training, and contribute to a positive, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Experience of supporting young people with SEND.
• Ability to identify triggers and use de-escalation techniques.
• Experience in a role supporting teachers and other staff.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with SEND to access learning.
• Adapt instructions to make tasks understandable.
• Assist class or other students as needed.
• Provide encouragement and positive reinforcement.
• Work with teachers, parents and external professionals as required.
• Promote a safe, inclusive and collaborative learning environment.
