Job summary

South Lanarkshire Council is seeking a Secondary Janitor at Biggar High School in Biggar. The role supports janitorial and cleaning functions, ensuring safety, coordinating with lessees and contractors, and reporting damages to facilities.

The post is temporary until 22 December 2026, with 37 hours per week during term time and a pattern of Monday to Friday, 7.30am–4pm. Successful candidate will be responsible for effective daily operations and safe site management.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring unit grounds are kept in a safe and tidy order, free from dangerous articles ensuring Health and safety of staff and visitors.
• To monitor the activities of lessee’s and contractors reporting any issues to line manager.
• To log, monitor and report all damage/faults in relation to the fabric and fixtures.
• To liaise with external contractors and lessee’s, ensuring all Health and Safety and security procedures are adhered to.
• To effectively communicate with the Facilities Manager; Head of Establishment/Lessee’s and Team Members to ensure the customer needs are met on a daily basis.
