Marchant Recruitment is seeking a reliable Caretaker for a well-established secondary school in Swindon. The role supports daily operations, performs routine checks, assists with security and maintenance, and helps ensure a safe, welcoming environment for students and staff.

This hands-on, independent position requires practical skills, good judgement, and the ability to respond quickly to issues while maintaining routine tasks to a high standard.

Qualifications

• Previous caretaking, facilities or maintenance experience is desirable.
• Good health and safety awareness and practical problem-solving ability.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work independently.
• Able to prioritise tasks and respond calmly to issues.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining the school buildings and grounds to a high standard.
• Carrying out regular site inspections.
• Identifying maintenance and safety issues and reporting them.
• Carrying out minor repairs where appropriate.
• Reporting larger or specialist maintenance requirements.
• Monitoring access to the premises.
• Supporting routine maintenance and servicing arrangements.
• Carrying out basic health and safety checks.
• Maintaining records of repairs, inspections and site issues.
• Assisting with deliveries and room set-ups for events.
