Job summary

Barchester Healthcare is seeking a qualified Second Chef to lead kitchens across its homes in the York and North Yorkshire region. You will prepare nutritious, flavoursome dishes using fresh seasonal produce and support the Head Chef with menu development while maintaining high dining standards.

Applicants should have a warm, resident-focused approach, HACCP knowledge and experience working with fresh ingredients. A role with good work-life balance and supportive team is offered.

Qualifications

• Personable, warm approach focused on resident wellbeing.
• Hold City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of nutrition and HACCP.

Responsibilities

• Manage the kitchen in Head Chef's absence.
• Assist Head Chef in menu development.
• Work with fresh produce to deliver high quality dishes.
• Create a warm, efficient and fun environment.
• Work within budget.
• Complete regular audits.
• Manage stock control.
