Job summary

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council is seeking a Seasonal General Attendant for Slieve Gullion Forest Park. You will welcome visitors, help with queries, supervise facilities and ensure safety while managing cash and permits.

The role runs 30 hours per week (over 3 days, including 1 weekend day), is outdoors, and offers a pay rate of £13.63 per hour (PAYE) on a 23-week contract, with weekly pay and holiday accrual.

Qualifications

• GCSEs (A-C) in English and Maths or equivalent plus customer-facing experience.
• At least 6 months' cash handling experience and keeping records.
• Awareness of health and safety and manual handling.
• Ability to work on your own initiative and commute to the site.

Responsibilities

• Collecting car park entry fees and issuing season permits.
• Traffic management and directing visitors around the site.
• Providing a warm, helpful service to visitors and dealing with queries.
• Supervising public use of the facilities and ensuring bye-laws are followed.
• Handling cash safely and keeping accurate records.
• Opening and closing facilities, and carrying out safety and security checks.
• General cleaning, maintenance and reporting any defects.
• Giving first aid where needed.

Hatched Recruitment Group is recruiting a Seasonal General Attendant to join Newry, Mourne and Down District Council's Tourism, Culture & Events team at Slieve Gullion Forest Park. You'll be the friendly face welcoming visitors, keeping the site safe and running smoothly.

What you'll be doing:

• Collecting car park entry fees and issuing season permits
• Traffic management and directing visitors around the site

What you'll need:

• Either GCSEs (A-C) in English and Maths or equivalent plus at least 6 months' customer-facing experience, or at least 1 year's customer-facing experience
• At least 6 months' experience of cash handling and keeping records
• Awareness of health and safety and manual handling
• The ability to work on your own initiative
• Access to transport to get to the site
• Availability to work weekends and public holidaysA current First Aid certificate (e.g. British Red Cross, St John Ambulance, Order of Malta) is desirable.
