Job summary

Royal Mail is hiring Seasonal Mail Sorters for Manchester locations during the festive period. No prior warehouse or mail sorting experience is required; you’ll unload, sort and move mail with a team in a busy setting.

Shifts include day and night patterns with hourly pay of £15.14–£16.44. You’ll be on your feet, do active, hands-on work, and switch tasks as needed. This seasonal role is a temporary position at Manchester Mail Centre and Distribution sites.

‘Tis the season to be earning a little extra

As a Seasonal Mail Sorter, you'll help process millions of cards, gifts, and parcels during our busiest time of year. Your duties will include:

• Unloading letters and parcels from delivery lorries
• Moving mail safely around our sorting centres and warehouses
• Helping sort letters and parcels quickly and accurately

We have a variety of shift patterns, including the following core shift patterns, available at:

Manchester Mail Centre, 77 Oldham Road, MANCHESTER, M4 5AA

Manchester Distribution, 77 Oldham Road, MANCHESTER, M4 5AA

• Lates: 14:00 - 22:00 (£15.14 p/h)
• Nights: 22:00 - 06:00 (£16.44 p/h)

Please note, night shifts are not available to applicants under 18 years old.

Depending on location, you may have access to facilities such as on-site canteens, break areas, social spaces and subsidised gym facilities.

What You'll Need To Join The Team

You don't need any previous warehouse operative, mail or parcel sorting experience. We're looking for people who:

• Have a positive attitude and team spirit.
• Are organised and able to work independently and as part of a team in a busy environment.
• Enjoy active, hands-on work, including working on your feet, pushing / pulling trolleys (up to 250kg with wheels!), and handling items up to 11kg.
• Are flexible and happy to switch tasks when needed.

Seasonal Mail Sorter roles do not qualify for visa sponsorship.
