Job Title: Seamstress

Department: Laundry - Housekeeping

Employer: Whitehall Hotel Limited (WHL)

Job Level: Line

Reports To: Laundry Manager

Location: Raffles London at The OWO

Scope of Position

Maintain and repair all colleague uniforms to high standards and assist with guest alterations. Manage uniform distribution and work closely with the laundry team to ensure smooth operations. Act as an ambassador of Raffles during interactions with guests and colleagues.

Responsibilities
  1. Communicate issues regarding uniforms with Laundry supervisor.
  2. Inspect and repair staff uniforms; report damaged garments beyond repair.
  3. Ensure equipment is maintained and report malfunctions.
  4. Keep the uniform area clean and organized.
  5. Communicate effectively with colleagues and guests.
  6. Maintain stock levels of seamstress utilities.
  7. Monitor quality of guest garments from external contractors.
  8. Press guest garments and staff uniforms as directed.
  9. Be flexible with working hours according to business needs.
  10. Follow Lost Property procedures.
  11. Perform additional duties or work in other departments as needed.
Health and Safety
  1. Report hazards immediately and ensure safety protocols are followed.
  2. Be familiar with fire, emergency, and bomb procedures.
  3. Ensure safety of persons and property, adhering to laws and ordinances.
  4. Promote health and safety awareness within the department.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Experience with sewing and embroidery machines.
  • Enthusiasm for delivering high-quality service.

  • Willingness to work a 24-hour operational schedule if required.
