Job summary

Ellison Institute of Technology Oxford invites a highly motivated Scientist in High-Throughput High-Content Imaging to join its Plant Biology Institute. You will establish an automated, image-based platform for plant cells and work with automation and AI teams to develop scalable workflows.

The role emphasizes publishing, IP generation, and translating research into real-world and commercial solutions aligned with EIT's mission of humane technological advancement.

Qualifications

• PhD in cell biology, developmental biology, bioengineering or related discipline with postdoctoral experience
• Demonstrated experience in developing quantitative image-based cellular assays
• Experience with high-throughput or high-content screening workflows
• Hands-on imaging with widefield/fluorescence/confocal microscopy
• Strong understanding of cellular phenotypes and readouts
• Ability to translate biological questions into measurable imaging outputs

Responsibilities

• Design and optimise high-throughput image-based phenotypic screening for plant cell systems
• Develop robust cell-based imaging assays to quantify phenotypes
• Design and optimise fluorescence-based assays and reporter systems
• Establish reproducible image acquisition and analysis pipelines
• Evaluate microscopy technologies for experimental needs
• Design rigorous screening experiments with controls and statistics
• Analyse, interpret and communicate results to guide validation cycles
• Collaborate with automation teams to integrate imaging workflows
• Work with bioinformatic/AI team to validate image-analysis/phenotype classification
