Job summary
Ellison Institute of Technology (EIT) in Oxford seeks a Scientist or Senior Scientist in Plant Cell Screening and Photosynthesis Engineering to join the Plant Biology Institute. You will develop a plant cell-based screening platform to evaluate carbon fixation and identify improved enzymes.
This role offers opportunities to advance enzyme variants to whole plants, collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, contribute to IP, and translate research into commercial solutions aligned with EIT's
Qualifications
- PhD in plant biology or related discipline required.
- Experience with cell-based assays for carbon fixation or photosynthesis preferred.
- Experience in plant metabolic engineering or synthetic biology advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Lead development of a plant cell-based screening platform for carbon fixation.
- Develop quantitative methods to measure carbon fixation in plant cell suspensions.
- Advance enzyme variants and pathways to whole plants for functional validation.
- Drive robust experimental design and data interpretation across projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement cutting-edge techniques.
- Present findings at internal and external events and support IP development.
