The Ellison Institute of Technology (EIT) Oxford invites a Scientist or Senior Scientist in Plant Cell Screening and Photosynthesis Engineering to lead a cutting-edge platform for evaluating carbon fixation in plant cells. You will guide engineering of photosynthesis pathways and advance promising variants into whole plants for validation.

Qualifications
- PhD in Plant Biology or related discipline.
- Experience developing or applying cell-based methods to measure carbon fixation or photosynthesis.
- Experience engineering photosynthesis or metabolic pathways in plants.
- Experience with CRISPR-based genome editing in plant cells.
- Experience with transient and stable genetic engineering in plant cell cultures (Desirable).
Responsibilities
- Lead development of a plant cell-based screening platform to assess carbon fixation and related responses.
- Develop quantitative methods to measure carbon fixation rates in plant cells.
- Identify improved variants of photosynthesis enzymes using the screening platform.
- Assess engineered metabolic pathways designed to enhance photosynthesis.
- Advance promising enzyme variants into whole plants for functional validation.
- Drive rigorous experimental design, execution, and data interpretation for robust results.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and present progress at seminars and external meetings.
- Mentor other group members and translate results into commercial opportunities.
