Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a Science Tutor to deliver personalised 1:1 sessions across KS3 and GCSE, working with learners in Boscombe and surrounding areas. You will adapt your teaching style to individual needs, support motivation and confidence, and collaborate with Local Authorities to help students progress academically.

The role offers flexible hours and a local commute with DBS update service or willingness to obtain one.

Qualifications

• At least 6 months in an educational setting or tutoring role.
• Strong knowledge of KS3/GCSE Science.
• Ability to deliver engaging, personalised sessions for learners with diverse needs.
• Willingness to obtain Enhanced DBS or current update service.

Responsibilities

Science Subjects Tutor

About the Opportunity

We're looking for Science Tutors to provide personalised 1:1 support to children and young people across Boscombe and the surrounding areas.

Working alongside Local Authorities, you'll support learners who require alternative educational provision, helping them develop their understanding of Science while building confidence, motivation, and engagement with learning. Many students benefit from a flexible approach tailored to their individual needs, making this an ideal role for educators who enjoy working closely with learners and adapting their teaching style.

• Subject: Science (KS3, GCSE and equivalent)
• Start Date: September
• Hours: Flexible
• Rate: 25- 30 per hour

Requirements

• Minimum 6 months' experience in an educational setting, including tutoring, teaching, teaching assistant, mentoring, learning support, or similar roles
• Strong knowledge of Science subjects
• Ability to deliver engaging and personalised sessions
• Experience supporting learners with SEND, EHCPs, or additional needs is desirable
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Patient, adaptable, and proactive approach
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
• Driver preferred; alternatively, willingness to travel within your local area
