Job summary

Ryecroft CofE Middle School (Innovate2Educate) is seeking a practical Science Technician to support the delivery of a high-quality science curriculum across two campuses. You will work with teachers to prepare resources, set up equipment, and maintain safety standards for practical lessons.

The role is permanent and term-time, 20 hours per week, with flexibility to travel between Windsor Park and Ryecroft sites. A driving licence is advantageous.

Qualifications

• NVQ2 in Laboratory and Associated Technical Activities (LATA) or NVQ2 School Support Staff or equivalent
• Knowledge of laboratory equipment and safe handling of chemicals
• Ability to prepare resources and equipment for practical lessons
• Understanding of health and safety standards in school laboratories

Science Technician

Location: Ryecroft CE Middle School ST14 5PB & Windsor Park CE Middle School ST14 7JX

Start date: AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

Contract: Permanent, Term-Time – 20 hours per week. To be worked flexibly between the two schools.

Salary: Grade 3: Point 5

We are seeking to appoint a technician who will bring strong practical skills, initiative and a genuine enthusiasm for science, to support the delivery of a high-quality, practical science curriculum. You will work closely with teachers to ensure that practical lessons are well prepared, safe and engaging, helping to create the best possible learning experiences for our pupils.

About You

• You will have the practical expertise to make a real difference and want to be part of a team that is ambitious for its pupils
• You will have NVQ2 in Laboratory and Associated Technical Activities (LATA) Educational or NVQ2 School Support Staff, or other appropriate equivalent qualification or experience
• You will have knowledge of appropriate use of laboratory equipment (including handling chemicals safely).
• You will be able to provide and prepare resources for practical lessons that meets both the health & safety standards and the requirements of the classes involved
• A good understanding and ability to use technology
• A clean driving licence is advantageous as there will be travel between our sites
