Job summary

Thames Park Secondary School in Grays, Essex is seeking a Science Technician to provide practical and technical support to the Science Department. You will help teachers deliver engaging practical lessons by ensuring equipment, materials and resources are prepared, maintained and ready for use.

The role is part-time, term-time plus inset days, with a salary of £21,669.61 - £23,195.53 per annum, 37 hours per week, 8:00am-4:00pm (Mon-Thu) and 8:00am-3:30pm (Fri), 30 minute unpaid break.

Qualifications

• Experience in science practical lessons is desirable.
• Ability to maintain high standards of safety in a laboratory environment.

Responsibilities

• Preparing equipment, materials and resources for practical lessons, demonstrations and assessments.
• Setting up and clearing away practical activities efficiently and safely.
• Cleaning, maintaining and safely storing science equipment and materials.
• Monitoring stock levels and assisting with the ordering of equipment and resources.
• Helping to maintain clean, organised and safe laboratories and preparation areas.
• Supporting health and safety procedures within practical science.
• Demonstrating the safe and correct use of equipment to students under supervision.
• Providing practical assistance to teachers and students during lessons.
• Assisting with practical assessments.
