Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a reliable Science Technician for a busy secondary school in Hampshire. You will prepare equipment, chemicals and resources for practical lessons across Biology, Chemistry and Physics, ensuring safe and smooth demonstrations.

This role requires experience in a school or laboratory, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work independently to support GCSE and A-Level practical work. Monday to Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm, ASAP start.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Science Technician or in a relevant laboratory environment.
• Good knowledge of practical science and laboratory equipment.
• Understanding of safe chemical handling and COSHH.
• Strong organisation and attention to detail.
• Able to work independently and manage a busy workload.
• Experience supporting GCSE and A-Level practical work would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare equipment, chemicals and resources for practical lessons.
• Set up and clear away experiments and demonstrations.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and keep preparation areas organised.
• Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering supplies.
• Support teachers during practical lessons where required.
• Carry out routine checks and report any issues with equipment.
• Follow COSHH and school health and safety procedures.
