Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a Science Technician for a high-performing secondary school in Islington. The role supports practical lessons, maintains equipment, and ensures safe, well-organised laboratories, reporting to the science department.

You will prepare materials, set up experiments, order supplies, assist teachers, and keep prep areas clean in line with COSHH and health & safety procedures. Prior secondary school lab experience is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Science Technician or in a lab setting.
• Knowledge of practical science and laboratory equipment.
• Understanding of COSHH and safety procedures.
• Organised, reliable and able to manage your own workload.
• Good attention to detail and a practical approach.
• Experience in a secondary school and familiarity with GCSE practical work would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Prepare equipment, chemicals and resources for practical lessons.
• Set up and clear away experiments and demonstrations.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and monitor stock.
• Assist with ordering and organising science supplies.
• Support teachers during practical sessions.
• Keep laboratories and preparation areas clean and tidy.
• Follow COSHH and school health and safety procedures.
