Role Overview

We are seeking a passionate, organized, and safety-conscious Science Technician to support our vibrant Chemistry department at Stowe School. As a key member of our science team, you will help deliver engaging practical chemistry lessons by preparing experiments, maintaining equipment, ensuring safety, and mentoring assistant technicians.

Responsibilities:

1. Preparing and setting up apparatus, specimens, and chemicals for lessons.
2. Supporting practical work across GCSE and A-Level Chemistry.
3. Ensuring Health & Safety standards are met and risk assessments are in place.
4. Managing stock, purchasing consumables, and maintaining inventories.
5. Guiding and training assistant technicians.
6. Supporting science events and school initiatives beyond the classroom.

Qualifications and Skills:

1. Sound knowledge of science, especially Chemistry (GCSE level or above).
2. Understanding of safe lab practices and willingness to learn.
3. Strong organisational and interpersonal skills.
4. Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

About Stowe School

Stowe School is located in Stowe’s world-famous landscape gardens set in 880 acres. It is an independent co-educational boarding school with approximately 900 pupils. The campus includes Stowe House and around 200 acres of the estate. The school employs approximately 500 full and part-time staff, with 60 staff and their families living on site.
