Job summary

Downend School is seeking a Science Technician to support teaching staff with practical science activities during term-time and INSET days. The role involves maintaining supplies, equipment checks and helping with practical lessons in a safe, compliant environment.

You will work under the Senior Science Technician, contributing to a collaborative science team and helping ensure a safe learning space for students and staff alike.

Qualifications

• Possess a basic understanding of laboratory materials, equipment and safety guidelines, including COSHH standards.
• Capable of executing detailed instructions accurate to specifications under the guidance of senior staff.
• Manage tasks efficiently with a practical, solution-focused approach.
• Build clear, positive working relationships with pupils, departmental peers and colleagues across the trust.
• Act as a positive role model for students while complying with all trust and school policies.
• Be willing to engage in ongoing personal and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Promote and maintain the safety, welfare and safeguarding of all students in line with school and pathway trust policies.

Salary: PATH 4. £26,429 FTE. £22,732 prorated

About the role

Working under the direction of the Senior Science Technician you will provide technical and administrative support to the teaching staff.
