Job summary

Highdown School and Sixth Form Centre is seeking a Technician to join our well-resourced Science Department, applications from Physics and/or Chemistry specialists would be particularly welcome.

The role involves assisting in the lab, preparing for lessons and experiments, ensuring all apparatus and chemicals are stored properly and adhering to health and safety standards. Start date ASAP, term-time hours apply, 35 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a school science lab; training provided.
• Willingness to work alone or as part of a team.
• Physics or Chemistry specialists are welcome.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the laboratory and help prepare lessons and experiments.
• Ensure apparatus and chemicals are stored away correctly.
• Adhere to health and safety standards at all times.
• Support the science department team as needed.

The Details

Start Date: ASAP

Salary: GLF Associate 3.1 £25,001 - 3.9 £26,782 FTE (actual £20,374 - £21,826)

Hours of work: Term time only, 35 hours per week - 8am - 3:30pm

Closing Date: 17th September 2026 at 9.30am
