Job summary

Reed Education, in partnership with Lancashire County Council, is recruiting for Science Technicians to join our team in the Preston area.

We are seeking individuals who can maintain equipment, set up experiments, demonstrate activities and support pupils in lab sessions. DBS clearance is required, and experience in schools or similar settings is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience maintaining laboratory equipment and setting up experiments.
• Ability to construct or modify laboratory apparatus for demonstrations.
• Experience providing technical help to pupils and staff in a school setting.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and calibrate equipment for experiments and lessons.
• Construct and modify apparatus as required for activities.
• Set up experiments and support practical lessons in classrooms or labs.
• Assist with laboratory demonstrations and student learning.
• Order and manage resources for science labs.
• Provide technical help to pupils and staff during experiments.
• Adhere to Health & Safety standards and maintain a clean, safe environment.

We are looking for people with the following qualifications, experience and attributes:

• Maintaining equipment
• Constructing and modifying apparatus
• Setting up experiments
• Taking an active part in laboratory demonstrations
• Ordering resources
• Helping in practical lessons
• Giving technical help to pupils and students
• Previous experience in a similar role.
• Recent experience of working in a school environment or similar setting.
• Hardworking and flexible, and able to use their initiative
• Experience with Health & Safety and cleanliness, and ensuring a safe environment
• Have the ability to develop good relationships with children and adults
• Commitment to Safeguarding
• Are you available on a part time or full time basis and able to travel around the local area?
