Job summary

Academics is seeking a dedicated Science Teacher to work in Littlehampton, West Sussex, within an Alternative Provision setting supporting young adults with SEMH needs.

You will plan and deliver engaging science lessons, adapt to varied learning abilities, and work with a supportive pastoral team to help students re-engage with education and build confidence for progression.

Qualifications

• QTS or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching Science, ideally in a secondary or specialist setting.
• Experience working with SEMH needs or supporting young people with additional needs.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Flexible, patient and nurturing approach to teaching.
• Ability to adapt lessons to engage students with different learning needs.
• Commitment to helping young people overcome barriers to education.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• Able to commute to Littlehampton.

An Alternative Provision setting in Littlehampton is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Science Teacher to join their supportive team, working with young adults with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about making Science accessible and engaging for students who may have struggled within a mainstream education environment. You will play an important role in building confidence, developing positive relationships and helping students re-engage with education.

As a Science Teacher, you will:

• Teach children and young adults with a range of SEMH needs within an Alternative Provision setting.
• Create a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel supported and valued.
• Adapt lessons and teaching approaches to meet a range of learning, behavioural and emotional needs.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with students and encourage positive attitudes towards learning.
• Monitor student progress and provide appropriate feedback and support.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and the wider pastoral team to support students' academic and personal development.
• Promote positive behaviour, resilience, confidence and independence.

What We're Looking For

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
