Qualifications

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Minimum 6 months teaching experience in a UK secondary school.
  • Passionate about science education and student achievement.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver the KS3 & KS4 Science curriculum, with KS5 teaching available if experienced in Derby.
  • Plan, prepare, and assess Combined and Specialist Science lessons in line with CLEAPSS safety standards.
  • Monitor student progress and implement appropriate interventions.
  • Contribute to Science department improvement planning.
  • Attend staff meetings, CPD, and parents' evenings as required.

Location: Derby

Contract Type: Full-Time / Part-Time

Start Date: Immediate / January 2027

Pay Rate: £130-£230 per day (dependent on experience and responsibilities)

Qualification: QTS required

Experience: Minimum 6 months' teaching experience in a UK secondary school

Education Personnel are delighted to be working in partnership with a progressive and well-respected secondary school in Derby to recruit a dedicated Science Teacher (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics) for a position starting immediately or in January 2027. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled Science educator to contribute to a thriving department and support students at KS3, KS4, and potentially specialist Science KS5. Derby secondary schools offer modern science laboratories, dedicated lab technicians, and active STEM enrichment programmes.

Key Responsibilities

The Ideal Candidate
  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Has at least 6 months of classroom teaching Science experience in a UK secondary setting
  • Is passionate about Science education and student achievement
  • Has excellent behaviour management, practical laboratory safety skills, and communication skills
  • Demonstrates a collaborative approach and willingness to contribute to school life
