Job summary

Gateway Teachers are recruiting a dedicated Science Teacher to join a well-established secondary school in North Northamptonshire. You will plan, deliver and assess high-quality science lessons across Biology, Chemistry and Physics, aiming to raise attainment and foster curiosity.

The role requires QTS or equivalent and a science degree, with experience at KS3/KS4 and ideally KS5. You will work in an inclusive environment committed to staff development and student success.

Qualifications

  • QTS or equivalent teaching qualification; degree required.
  • Degree in Biology, Chemistry or Physics.
  • Experience teaching science at KS3 and KS4; KS5 desirable.
  • Strong classroom management and communication with students and parents.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective science lessons in line with the national curriculum.
  • Teach across the science disciplines (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) with the ability to specialise in one area if desired.
  • Assess, monitor, and record student progress, providing constructive feedback to support academic development.
  • Develop and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages active learning and student participation.
  • Prepare students for GCSE examinations, ensuring they are equipped to achieve target grades.
  • Contribute to the wider school community through participation in extracurricular activities, school events, and ongoing professional development.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to share best practices, resources, and strategies for effective teaching and learning.
  • Attend and contribute to department meetings, parent evenings, and other school events as required.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of educational developments and best practices in science education.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification; a degree is required.
  • A degree in a relevant science subject (Biology, Chemistry, Physics).
  • Previous experience teaching science at Key Stages 3 and 4; experience with Key Stage 5 is desirable.
  • Strong classroom management skills with the ability to engage and motivate students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and a passion for teaching science.
  • Right to work in the UK.
