Job summary

Harris Academy Beckenham is seeking a qualified Lead Practitioner of Science to join our teaching staff. The successful candidate will lead science teaching, support curriculum, and drive high standards of learning and achievement across key stages 3-5.

The role requires QTS, evidence of ongoing professional development, and a proven track record of outstanding results. You will work with governors and the Harris Federation to sustain an outstanding learning environment.

Qualifications

• Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree, with evidence of ongoing professional development
• Demonstrate outstanding teaching and excellent behaviour management
• Experience of lesson observations and giving robust feedback
• Experience of improvement planning and strategies to raise student achievement with evidenced success
• Contribute to improving learning, teaching and curriculum
• Proven track record of excellent KS3/KS4 results, and KS5 experience ideally
• Experience of pupil tracking and feedback practices
• Experience of working with governors and multiple schools is desirable

Responsibilities

• Lead Practitioner of Science to drive teaching and learning across the faculty
• Collaborate as part of Lead Practitioner Team to realise excellence and high standards
• Account for student performance per academy procedures
• Provide Governing Body with performance and development information
• Support Harris Federation work and subject groups
• Contribute to academy policies and their implementation
• Ensure high quality teaching and learning in the Faculty and across the Academy
• Fulfill duties during lunch, breaks, before/during/after school
