Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a proactive Science Technician for an Outstanding Ofsted-rated secondary school in Brent. You will support teachers with practical lessons, prepare equipment and ensure safe, well-organised laboratories.

This permanent, full-time role starts in October 2026. You will handle stock, assist during lessons and help maintain COSHH compliance and safety in the science department.

Qualifications

• Previous Science Technician or laboratory experience would be beneficial, but relevant experience in a scientific or technical setting will also be considered.
• Strong organisational skills and a practical mindset are essential.
• Confident handling equipment and resources, able to prioritise competing tasks and maintain high standards.

Responsibilities

• Practical preparation: Set up experiments, demonstrations and practical activities in advance of lessons.
• Equipment & resources: Ensure apparatus and materials are available, maintained and ready for use.
• Laboratory organisation: Keep laboratories, prep rooms and storage areas clean, safe and efficiently organised.
• Stock management: Monitor chemicals, equipment and consumables, placing orders when supplies need replenishing.
• Health & safety: Follow the school's procedures for chemical handling, COSHH, storage and laboratory safety.
• Department support: Work closely with teachers and provide practical assistance during lessons where required.
