Job summary

Staffordshire University Academy is seeking a Head of Year on a permanent basis. The role is a full-time position, working 37 hours per week from Monday to Friday, with a starting salary of £26,427 (Grade 3, SCP 5).

The start date is 2 November 2026. You will join the site team to support daily operations, security and maintenance of the academy site, with duties including opening/locking, safety checks, minor repairs and upkeep of facilities.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day operation, security and maintenance of the Academy site as part of the Business Team.
• Open and secure premises at agreed times, including 7:00am starts on a rota basis.
• Carry out routine checks of heating, lighting, fire alarms and security systems.
• Maintain a safe, clean and welcoming environment for students, staff and visitors.
• Undertake minor repairs and general maintenance (basic plumbing, joinery, fittings).
• Carry out painting, decorating and general improvement works.
• Maintain external areas, litter removal and safe pathways.
• Support the Academy during adverse weather, including gritting and snow clearance.
• Undertake general portering duties and assist contractors as needed.
• Liaise with contractors and utility representatives and monitor works on site.
