Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a reliable and hands-on Site Manager to oversee the daily operation and maintenance of a well-established primary school in Norwich, Norfolk. You will manage routine inspections, respond to maintenance requests and coordinate repairs to keep the site running smoothly and safely.

The ideal candidate will have previous school-site experience, practical maintenance skills and a proactive approach to health and safety, security and safeguarding.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a School Site Manager or similar.
• School-based experience is highly desirable.
• Practical maintenance skills and understanding of site operations.
• Knowledge of health and safety, fire safety and security procedures.
• Strong organisation and time management.
• Ability to prioritise maintenance requests and work independently.
• Confidence communicating with contractors and school staff.
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Managing the daily opening and closing of the school premises.
• Carrying out regular inspections of buildings, playgrounds and external areas.
• Undertaking minor repairs and routine maintenance within the limits of your competence.
• Identifying hazards and reporting significant defects or maintenance concerns.
• Coordinating contractors and monitoring repair work carried out on site.
• Maintaining site security, key control and appropriate access arrangements.
• Ensuring classrooms and communal spaces are ready for use each day.
• Supporting the setup of furniture and equipment for assemblies, meetings and school events.
• Monitoring site supplies and maintaining accurate maintenance records.
• Supporting fire safety procedures, emergency arrangements and health and safety checks.
• Liaising with the school office to ensure maintenance issues are communicated and prioritised.
• Ensuring contractors and visitors follow school safeguarding and site safety procedures.
