Job summary

Empowering Learning Ltd in Swadlincote is seeking a reliable Site Manager for our primary school. You will be responsible for day-to-day maintenance, security and safe operation of the site, ensuring buildings, grounds and facilities are well maintained to support pupils, staff and visitors.

This permanent, full-time role requires hands-on maintenance, strong health and safety awareness, and the ability to coordinate contractors and emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Open and close the school premises, ensuring the site is secure at all times.
• Carry out routine maintenance, repairs and general DIY tasks.
• Undertake regular site inspections and identify maintenance issues, hazards and required improvements.
• Ensure the school complies with health and safety, fire safety and security procedures.
• Monitor heating, lighting, ventilation and other site services.
• Maintain the school grounds, outdoor areas, pathways and play areas.
• Manage contractors and oversee maintenance work, ensuring work is completed safely and to the required standard.
• Carry out regular checks of fire alarms, emergency lighting and other safety equipment in line with the school's procedures and applicable requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, repairs and health and safety checks.
• Support the delivery, movement and storage of equipment, furniture and supplies.
• Prepare rooms and facilities for school events, meetings and activities.
• Liaise with the Headteacher, school office and other staff regarding site requirements.
• Respond promptly to emergencies, urgent repairs and security concerns.
• Promote a safe, clean and positive environment for children, staff and visitors.
